Housesitter.ie – Client Booking, Payment & Legal Policy Last updated: 23.01.2026
These policies are in place to ensure high standards of pet care, legal compliance, and fair availability management for all clients.
By continuing to use the Housesitter.ie online system, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following terms.
Booking Requests & Confirmation
All services must be requested through the Housesitter.ie online system.
A booking is not confirmed until the booking request has been accepted and the required payment has been completed.
Once confirmed, the booking is reserved exclusively for you and is subject to the payment and cancellation terms outlined below.
Client Profile Requirements
To request services, clients must provide a valid home address and complete at least one pet profile with accurate and up-to-date information.
Clients are responsible for ensuring that all profile details remain current.
Dog Licence Requirement (Irish Law)
Under Irish law, all dogs must hold a valid dog licence.
For any dog-related booking, a valid dog licence must be uploaded to the client’s online profile before services can commence.
Housesitter.ie must be able to present proof of a valid dog licence to a dog warden or authorised authority upon request.
Services for dogs cannot be provided, may be declined, or may be suspended if a valid licence has not been uploaded in advance.
Minimum Care Requirements (Home Visits)
To ensure proper welfare, cats require a minimum of one visit per day when left overnight. Dogs require a minimum of two visits per day when left overnight.
Housesitter.ie reserves the right to decline bookings that do not meet these minimum care standards.
Home Boarding – Very Limited Availability
Home boarding availability is strictly limited to two spaces only.
Home boarding should only be requested once travel dates are fully confirmed. Home boarding requests may require manual confirmation.
Repeated booking and cancellation of boarding slots may result in future requests being declined or requiring approval.
Home boarding is charged per day, not per night, as boarding capacity is reserved on a daily basis.
Visit Timing & Duration
Arrival times are scheduled within a 2–4 hour window unless otherwise agreed.
Visit duration includes time to gain entry, time spent caring for pets, and time securing the property on exit.
Minor variations in timing or duration may occur.
Access & Drop-Off Arrangements
For home visits, clients must ensure that access to the property (key, lockbox, or agreed method) is arranged before the first visit.
For home boarding, clients must confirm drop-off and collection times in advance.
Services cannot proceed without agreed access arrangements.
Payments
Payment is required in full at the time of booking confirmation and is processed via the secure online system using card or PayPal.
Bookings are not secured and services will not be provided unless payment has been received.
Cancellations
Cancellations must be submitted through the online system.
For home visits, cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice may be charged in full.
For overnight stays or home boarding, cancellations with less than 15 days’ notice may be charged in full.
Cancellations with 15–30 days’ notice may be charged 50 percent.
Cancellations made more than 30 days in advance incur no charge.
We understand that genuine emergencies occur and discretion may be applied where appropriate.
Peak Periods
During peak periods, including summer months and public holidays, availability is extremely limited and cancellation charges may be applied more strictly.

All booking changes, cancellations, and enquiries must be made via the online system, by email to info@housesitter.ie
, or by phone on 042 942 0567.
